The city Engineering Department will start construction and upgrades at two municipal parking lots this month.
One lot is at the intersection of Ash and Moody streets, and the second is on Exchange Street.
Construction on the Ash Street parking lot is scheduled to begin Oct. 8. Work on the Exchange Street lot is scheduled to start Oct. 25. These schedules are subject to change, according to the city.
Planned work includes regrading, new pavement, granite curbing, lighting, drainage upgrades, signage and landscaping.The project overall encompasses paving approximately 26,300 square feet, installing 700 linear feet of new granite curb and adding 350 linear feet of bituminous berm curb.
Ash Street lot
At this location crews will
- Remove and reset 140 linear feet of existing curb
- Replace the sidewalk along Ash Street
- Plant four new trees
- Install two electric vehicle charging stations and a pay station
Exchange Street lot
Here, workers will remove and replace an existing catch basin.
Impact on parking
Some on-street parking will be limited during construction. Crews will place “No Parking” signs daily for the following day’s work. Restrictions will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
