Boston Sculptors Gallery presents Christopher Abrams: IYKYK , a solo show featuring a new series of small-scale sculpture based on iconic landmarks and forgotten histories in the Boston area.
According to a press release announcing the show’s opening, Abrams’ works offer visual statements immediately recognizable to any and in some cases to only Boston-area residents. Abrams uses the popular hashtag IYKYK (“If you know, you know”) as a way to think about how language unites and divides, creating common, but also exclusive, experiences.
Abrams is a sculptor and multimedia artist who lives and works in Waltham. He teaches visual art and art history courses at the Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall School. According to his biography, his work “strives to provoke reflection and speculation on the true and imagined life of objects and draws on his background as an architectural model maker, carpenter, educator and pop-culture fanatic.”
The show opened Oct. 3 and runs through Nov. 3. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Artist meet-and-greets are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5; Saturday, Oct. 27; and Sunday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
