Alleged ‘porch pirate’ arrested after foot chase

Waltham police arrested an alleged “porch pirate,” after officers reportedly caught the suspect in the act of stealing a package from a porch in the Lyman Street area. 

The arrest happened around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22. 

“This suspect was placed under arrest after a foot pursuit and the package was returned to the intended recipient,” the Police Department posted on its Facebook page.

Police also reminded residents to be vigilant about deliveries: “The vast amount of daily package deliveries provide numerous opportunities for thieves. This will only increase as the holiday season approaches.
