Girl entrepreneurs make and sell their own wellness products

Girl entrepreneurs show off their products at the Dragonfly Boutique. Left to right: Mayor Jeannette A. McCarthy, Leigha Ruano, Emilia Saraceno, Kiera Delaney, Maddie Ruano, Serena DiGiacomo, Rebecca Saraceno, Julia Anderson, Cora Quigley, Emmy Cardillo, Rowan and Sophie Pierre-Louis.

Waltham resident Rebecca Saraceno thinks there’s no such thing as being too young to start a business.

Saraceno, the founder of Wellgirl, runs four-week workshops called Crafting Your Girl Maker Business for young female entrepreneurs. The workshop takes girls ages 8 to 14 through the process of creating a small business, crafting and selling products.

This past Saturday afternoon, 11 fresh graduates of the workshop launched nine small businesses by selling their handmade products at the Dragonfly Boutique at 1656 Massachusetts Ave. in Lexington.

The spring-themed products included jewelry, knits, candles, edible treats for people and pets, dream catchers and other gift items.

Waltham Mayor Jeannette A. McCarthy dropped in to peruse the merchandise.

The girls’ products will be available for sale over the Wellgirl Facebook page.

Saraceno plans to offer the next four-week workshop in May (sign up here).
