Angela (Riscolo) Mallozzi, 1926–2025

Angela (Riscolo) Mallozzi went home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2025, at the age of 98.
Born on October 6, 1926, in Santa Maria, Italy, Angela was the eldest of five siblings and carried that role with grace and strength throughout her life. She spent her early years in Santa Maria before moving to Rome to pursue a calling as a nun. When health issues brought her back home, fate introduced her to Giovanni Mallozzi at her father’s repair shop—beginning a lifelong love story.
Angela and Giovanni married in 1950 and settled in Scauri, where they operated the Mallozzi Bike Shop. In 1956, they immigrated to the United States and built a new life in Waltham, where Angela lived for 69 years.
Angela worked as a seamstress at Moody Dress until retirement. She was well-known for her “headaches” that miraculously aligned with her favorite soap operas. With her sharp humor, love of music, and nurturing spirit, she became a beloved figure in her community and family.
Affectionately called “Zi Angie,” Angela’s home—especially her basement—was the heart of family gatherings. She found great joy in hosting Christmas Eve celebrations filled with food, laughter and rounds of tombola. Her homemade crustata, lovingly tended garden and warm hospitality became hallmarks of her generous soul.
Though Angela and Giovanni had no children, she was a devoted and guiding presence to countless nieces, nephews and extended family, offering unconditional love and a place at her table to all.
She was predeceased by her husband Giovanni Mallozzi; her parents, Antonio and Benedetta (Terentino) Riscolo; her sister Antonetta Falco; and her brothers Rodolfo and Gregorio Riscolo.
She is survived by her loving sister Anna (Riscolo) Parente, along with numerous cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and lifelong friends.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Angela and her family can do so in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, on Tuesda, July 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. For those who wish to pay their final respects, but are unable to attend, please be sure to sign the guestbook at www.BrascoFuneralhome.com. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Angela’s life to remember the love and friendship she shared with so many in her lifetime at a mass of Christian burial on July 23 at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum in Waltham.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Breast Cancer Foundation in her name. “Riposa in pace, cara Angela. Il tuo amore, il tuo spirito e la tua canzone vivranno per sempre nei nostri cuori.”
Rest in peace, dear Angela. Your love, your spirit, and your song will live on forever in our hearts.
