Public Safety Report: Waltham man arrested for break-in

A Waltham man was arrested for allegedly breaking into an apartment and threatening a resident on June 20.

According to a police report, a Middlesex Circle resident woke up to a man outside of his apartment screaming and banging on his screen door around 10 p.m. that day.

The reporting party recognized the man as Watson Etienne, 50, homeless, of Waltham.

A police spokesperson said as Etienne attempted to break into the apartment, he told the resident that he was going to kill him with his bare hands.

The report states that officers found Etienne shortly after the incident attempting to flee the scene. Etienne told officers that the door was already broken and he had tried to enter the residence to check on a friend.

Etienne was arrested and charged with threatening to commit a crime, property vandalism and unarmed burglary.

On July 22 the court revised these charges, and Etienne pleaded not guilty to felony breaking and entering, property vandalism and threatening to commit a crime. He was released from Waltham District Court on July 22 on the condition that he stay away from the Middlesex Circle resident and appear for his Aug. 19 pretrial hearing.
