Citizens Police Academy gives residents a chance to learn about local policing

Waltham residents can get a firsthand look at the daily work of a police officer by attending the Waltham Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy. The program is offered on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Sept. 3 through Nov. 9.
This free program offers Waltham citizens a behind-the-scenes look at the city’s Police Department. It combines both classroom and hands-on instruction to teach participants about the inner workings of police work such as patrol procedures, narcotics and domestic violence investigations, police field exercises and firearms training, E911, use of force and de-escalation procedures, and more. Participants will also have the opportunity to ride along with a police officer.
This is an opportunity for residents to get to know and interact with local officers, all while continuing to build transparency and trust with the Police Department. If interested, fill out and submit the application.
