Marie “Ruby” (Poirier) Caruso, 1929–2025

Maria “Ruby” (Poirier) Caruso of Waltham passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with loving family by her side on the morning of August 19.
Born on July 15, 1929, in Waltham, daughter of the late Luke and Cecile (LeBlanc) Poirier, Ruby was raised, educated and remained a life-long resident of Waltham.
Ruby worked for 10 years as a telephone operator and later became a realtor, focusing on local rentals. She was an avid cook – all who entered her house were warmly welcomed and well fed! She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing various card and board games with friends and family.
Ruby was a devoted wife for 67 years to the late Anthony Caruso.
She is survived by her devoted and loving children, Lisa Hassett and her husband David of Weston and Anthony Caruso Jr. and his wife Marisa of Waltham. She relished the role of Grammy and delighted in spoiling her five cherished grandchildren, Douglas Hassett, Vanessa Burns, Alicia Caruso, Veronica Caruso and Anthony Caruso III; and her adored two great grandchildren, Stella and Nolan Burns. She also loved spending time with her sisters and brothers chatting the day away reminiscing about growing up and she is survived by Carol Poirier of Newton Nancy Dickie of Waltham, Paul Poirier of Wayland and was predeceased by Eileen Creonte, Edna LeBlanc and Clifford Poirier. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Ruby’s life to remember the love and friendship she shared with so many in her lifetime at a mass of Christian burial on Friday morning, August 22, at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., Waltham, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
