Court Report: Waltham man pleads not guilty to firearm charges

Waltham district court.

On Sept. 8 the Waltham District Court charged Khansee Chalernsouk, 32, of 15 Mount Vernon Ave., with felony possession of an untraceable firearm, receiving an untraceable firearm, possession of a class B drug, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and destruction of property worth under $1,200.

On Sept 4., Chalernsouk was arrested on the charges following an incident at Bubbles Laundromat at 991 Main St.

According to a police report, at around 6:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a man and a woman fighting inside the business.

The reporting party said that the man left in a black Toyota sedan driven by another woman and provided officers with a license plate and a description of him.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Lexington and Lincoln streets.

After stopping the vehicle, the female driver told police that Chalernsouk had been arguing with a relative over familial issues before she convinced him to leave.

Chalernsouk admitted to arguing and drinking due to stress caused by the issue.

One of the officers who stopped the vehicle allegedly observed Chalernsouk put something under his seat when police approached the vehicle.

When looking inside a window, another officer saw the handle of a black firearm.

Officers placed Chalernsouk in handcuffs and, upon searching him, found bags of a white powder, resembling cocaine, in his pockets,  as well as $410 in cash.

After inputting Chalernsouk’s personal information into the CJIS, a criminal justice database managed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and used by law enforcement agencies, officers discovered that he had past felony convictions and was barred from possessing or obtaining a firearm or license to carry.

Upon returning to the station, officers identified the firearm as a Taurus G3c 9mm handgun with a serial number that appeared to be scratched off. The gun was loaded with five rounds of ammunition in the magazine, but none in the chamber.

Chalernsouk pleaded not guilty to the charges at his arraignment on Sept. 5.

The Waltham District Court ordered him to be held at Middlesex Jail while awaiting his pretrial hearing on Oct. 8.
