Probable cause hearing for suspect in July shooting incident pushed to next month

Waltham District Court Judge Matthew Leo McGrath rescheduled an Oct. 1 probable cause hearing for Gaby Sandoval-Matute, 31, of 83 Lexington St., Waltham. 

Sandoval-Matute pleaded not guilty to withholding evidence from a criminal proceeding, conspiracy, assault and battery with a firearm, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, extortion by threat of injury, felony possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card at an arraignment on Jul. 30. 

McGrath ordered Sandoval-Matute remain committed to Middlesex Correctional Institute in Framingham in lieu of $7,500 bail. 

She is scheduled to appear via Zoom for a probable cause hearing on Nov. 3.

Waltham District Court Judge Jason Chan dismissed three open charges against Luis H. Barrera, 41, of 133 Center Road, Shirley, on Oct. 6. Waltham Police arrested and charged Barrera with breaking and entering, malicious damage to a motor vehicle and larceny under $1,200 on Aug. 17. Barrera’s case was dismissed after the Committee for Public Counsel Services failed to provide him with legal representation during the 45-day period allotted under Lavallee protocol.

Waltham District Court Judge Sarah Kennedy ordered William Patrick Ford, 43, homeless, held without bail at the Middlesex Jail following a dangerousness hearing on Oct. 7. Waltham Police arrested and charged Ford with armed robbery, threat to commit a crime, assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a dangerous weapon, and two counts of possession of a class B substance on Oct. 6. Ford is scheduled to appear at Waltham District Court for a detention hearing on Oct. 17.
