Margaret Allen, 1943–2025, loving mother and grandmother

Margaret Frances (Hoell) Allen, of Waltham, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29 2025, in the comfort of her home. She was 82.

Born on Apr. 4 1943 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. Hoell, Jr. and Margaret P. (Conners) Hoell.

‍Margaret enjoyed a long career, working for many years at Brandeis University before retiring from BGS Systems, Inc., in Waltham. In her free time, she loved reading and cherishing moments with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.

Predeceased by her brother, John Hoell, and sister, Janet Hoell.

Margaret is survived by her son, Todd Allen and his wife Cristy; her grandson Zachary Allen and his wife Annabell; her granddaughter, Rachel (Allen) Eige and her husband Riley Eige; her sister Donna O’Reilly, her husband John, and their daughter Sara O’Reilly. She also leaves many other cherished family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to gather and remember the friendship and laughter Margaret shared with so many, during ‍visiting hours on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in The Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco and Sons Memorial Chapels, located at 773 Moody Street, Waltham. A memorial service in celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 1 p.m.
