Fuerza to hold march from district court to Waltham Common

Fuerza Waltham will march from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 8, to protest ICE’s presence in the city.

The march will start at the Waltham District Court at 38 Linden St., a site where immigrants who are complying with court orders have been arrested by ICE agents. The march will culminate at Waltham Common, where a candlelight vigil will take place for Waltham residents who have been arrested by ICE. Immigrants impacted by ICE will share their stories as well.

“Waltham must not accept ICE’s brutality – or the courts’ complicity – as the new normal,” said Fuerza Waltham in a Nov. 6 press release. Reports of the court being complicit in these arrests have not been independently confirmed.

The march will take place rain or shine. Those wishing to attend can park in the retail lot across from the courthouse. Attendees are encouraged to carpool, and the route is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Protest marshals and legal observers will be present.

Fuerza Waltham is a volunteer organization that documents in-progress ICE arrests. The group was founded by Jonathan Paz, a former Waltham city councilor.

  1. Thank you for your reporting. In a democracy, people have the civil right to free speech and peaceful protest. Billionaires and corporations are currently eating up our country and contributing to rising costs. Let’s unite and fix this!

  2. Well that’s great! Protest protest and protest some more, bout all you are good for! Meanwhile dangerous and violent people are being removed from our country! I have a great idea, how about you Walthamers open your doors and house a few illegals, and give us taxpayers a break for a change! You notice everything costs more, and yes they came here illegally not legally thus the term! You wonder why there is no housing in this state for hard working, poor Americans or why our schools and hospitals are busting at the seams? It’s ok though, we have more than enough money to give free free free stuff to anyone here! How does that make a bit of sense? And why oh why can we not have an audit about where and how the billions were spent! Hmm, maybe because it’s a crying shame how much waste was allowed, to house, (in hotels that made a killing with double the rates to fill em up and to allow the rapes), to feed, clothe, care for, give phones, and offer endless uber rides to etc etc! Have I had a free room or free ride or free house or free phone or free clothes or free education or free healthcare ever? And what officials made a boatload of money off the backs of us taxpayers! And now Healey is asking to get rid of Prop2, because this state is so very broke we need to give more money to keep it running! Oh dear lord what a mess this state is, open the books and let Walthamers know where the billions with a B was spent!
