The WPO kicked off its 41st season of classical music last Sunday at Clark Government Center before a sold-out room filled with Waltham music lovers.

The theme for the event was a celebration of the 150th birthday of English composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor featuring performances of his “Idyll” and “Violin Concerto” alongside his contemporary, Antonín Dvořák’s “Symphony No. 8.”

Guest soloist Victor Romanul dazzled with a virtuoso performance during “Violin Concerto” and rewarded the audience’s enthusiastic standing ovation with a delightful encore rendition of Coleridge-Taylor’s “African Dance No. 2.”
