Public safety report: House fire on Grove Street extinguished

The Waltham Fire Department responded at 3:25 p.m. on Nov. 3 to a building fire in a two-family house on Grove Street. Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke emanating from the building and discovered a heavy fire in the kitchen, which they put out. All occupants were safe and accounted for. The majority of the fire took place on the first floor, but had some impact on the second floor of the house. The fire was not deliberately set, and seemed to be of electrical origin.
A summary of police and fire activity from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4 is as follows:
On Oct. 29 at 4:44 p.m., police responded to the Currents on the Charles apartment complex at 36 River St. following complaints of a suspicious incident. They were able to locate several teens who may have been involved in breaking and entering as well as assaults that took place at the complex. The matter is under investigation.
At 9:27 p.m. firefighters responded to Circle Drive and found a power line rubbing against a tree. Two homes in the area lost power to a portion of their residences. The firefighters called Eversource, the power company in charge of the lines, and stood by until the company arrived.
On Oct. 31 at 9:21 a.m., police responded to Rayteam Automotive on High Street. A car at the property had been vandalized via scratches from a car key. The matter is under investigation.
On Nov. 1 at 4:43 a.m., police responded to the Route 20 Rotary at Sibley Road and Weston Street to find a vehicle that had gone off the road into the woods. The driver was ultimately charged with operating under the influence and was taken to the hospital. The name of the driver hasn’t been released.
Police responded to Dominic’s Italian Bakery & Deli on Main Street at 10:03 a.m. A driver had been backing out of a parking spot and struck a pregnant woman. The woman was transported to the hospital and it was determined that she sustained no injuries. The driver was cited for failing to use care when backing up.
On Nov. 2 at 8:46 p.m., police responded to Doty Street where a party reported being scammed by someone claiming to be country music star Kenny Chesney. The party had sent the scammer $2,300. The matter is under investigation.
On Nov. 4 at 4:02 p.m., police responded to reports of an electric scooter being stolen from the Waltham Public Library. The matter is under investigation.
