Moody Street’s Tempo was buzzing with activity this past Saturday lunchtime as Walthamites swarmed around tables displaying a multitude of crafts and delicacies handmade by female entrepreneurs ages 8 to 13.
Seventeen girls representing 14 different businesses sold items they had created over the last four weeks as part of the Wellgirl Crafting Your Girl Maker Business program. Several businesses sold out completely.
A raffle raised $120 that will go toward Tempo’s support of the Salvation Army Angel Tree gift program, and many of the girls will donate a portion of their profits to local charities.
“The greatest joy for me is watching their faces on market day,” said Wellgirl founder Rebecca Saraceno. “Even if they are shy and a bit nervous at the start, once they make their first and then second sale, they can’t help but smile.”
If you missed out Saturday, there’s still a chance to snag a unique gift online all week long at the Girl Made Market after sale.
