A popular Bentley University professor remains missing more than two weeks after disappearing from a small island off the coast of Maine.

Wiley Davi, 57, an English and media studies professor at Bentley University in Waltham, was last seen Nov. 15 on Peaks Island, near Portland.

“Wiley is a longtime and respected professor and a friend to students, faculty and staff on our campus. Our hearts and minds are with Wiley and their loved ones and we are hoping and praying for Wiley’s safe return,” Bentley’s news and public relations director Helen Henrichs previously wrote in a statement to The Times.

Maine authorities mounted a multiday search on Peaks Island by land, air and water, with officials from multiple public safety agencies. However, they suspended the intensive operation a week ago after finding no trace of Davi. Portland police officials say they have found no evidence of foul play and the case remains an open missing person investigation.

Officials have not said why Davi was on Peaks Island, though one report indicates the professor owns property there. Authorities earlier asked island residents to check sheds and outbuildings and urged anyone with information about Davi’s whereabouts to contact Portland police at 207-874-8479.
