Car strikes two pedestrians on South Street on Sunday evening

UPDATED Dec. 11 with information on greater severity of injuries sustained by one of the pedestrians.

Emergency crews responded to the area of 414 South St. around 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, for a report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, Waltham Fire, Armstrong Ambulance, Waltham Police, Brandeis Police and Brandeis EMS found two people who had been hit by a vehicle.

Both victims were treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital with injuries. One of the women is said to be in serious condition. The incident remains under investigation.

Police returned to the scene on Dec. 10 to reconstruct the collision.
