Multiple undercover officers seen searching vehicle next to Westin hotel

A white Nissan was surrounded by undercover officers and Waltham police cruisers.

Nine undercover vehicles and two Waltham police cruisers were seen conducting a search of a white 2017 Nissan Altima at the intersection of Third Avenue and Prospect Hill Lane, next to the Westin hotel, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 22.

An individual had been detained and was sitting on the sidewalk behind the row of vehicles.

It is unclear why the vehicle was stopped or what agencies were involved in addition to Waltham Police.

Officers on scene said they could not provide any information about the incident.

In response to a request for comment, Waltham police detective Joseph Florio said the incident involved an ongoing investigation and that the department would not release any information.
