New City Council and School Committee members to be sworn in Sunday

Waltham’s recently elected city councilors and School Committee members will assume their new offices at the city’s Inauguration Day this week.

The city will hold its Inauguration Day ceremonies on Sunday, Jan. 4, in the Waltham High School auditorium. The general public is invited.

In November voters elected Tim King and Emma Tzioumis to succeed current Councilors-at-Large Kathy McMenimen and Tom Stanley on the 2026 City Council and elected Sabrina DeJoannis and Tammy Wong-Bigelow to replace departing School Committee members Liz AlJammal and John Frassica.

At the inauguration ceremony, the new City Council will also select a council president for the upcoming year.

The city will hold a dessert reception in the high school’s cafeteria after the formal ceremony.

The new School Committee will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 7, and the new City Council will convene on Monday, Jan. 12.
