Waltham man held without bail on assault to murder charge for allegedly stabbing girlfriend

At a Jan. 7 hearing Musasizi Ronald Muleme, 38, of 39 Charlesbank Way, Waltham, was ordered by Waltham District Court Judge Ellen M. Caulo to remain held without bail at Middlesex Jail in Billerica on dangerousness.
At an arraignment on Dec. 29 Muleme pleaded not guilty to charges of armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a family or household member.
Footage from a home security camera captured what began as a verbal altercation between Muleme and his girlfriend after a friend’s birthday celebration and then escalated to a physical altercation, according to the police report.
The police report also said footage showed both parties arguing, the victim throwing various objects at Muleme and another verbal altercation, followed by another physical altercation where Muleme retrieved a large chef’s knife from the kitchen of the residence and approached the victim from behind, at which point both parties fell to the floor and he repeatedly stabbed her in the back.
Additionally, the police report said the defendant continued to stab the victim after the knife became stuck in her back and he used force to remove it. The prosecution alleged that the knife became stuck due to the force of the stabbing.
Waltham police responded to multiple calls from the victim stating that she was bleeding from the arms and back at 2:35 a.m. on Dec. 28. After responding and viewing video footage of the stabbing, officers located Muleme near his residence and arrested him.
According to the police report, while being arrested, Muleme told officers that his girlfriend had had an accident.
Both Muleme and the victim were transported to hospitals to receive medical attention.
At the time of his arrest, Muleme was on probation for a charge of leaving the scene of property damage related to an incident in September 2024.
He is scheduled to appear via Zoom for a probable cause hearing on Feb. 6 and will be held on dangerousness without bail for up to 120 days until May 1.
