Waltham-based Arc of Massachusetts names new COO

The Arc of Massachusetts, a Waltham-based organization that advocates for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has appointed Audrey Falk as its first chief operating officer.
In her new role, announced Tuesday, Falk will build on The Arc’s work from its South Street headquarters to strengthen collaboration among the organization’s statewide chapters and community partners. The Arc supports individuals and families through advocacy, education, and local programming designed to promote inclusion and independence.
“Audrey’s career has long reflected a commitment to building inclusive communities and strengthening organizations that support individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Maura Sullivan, CEO of The Arc of Massachusetts. “We are excited to welcome her to this role.”
Falk brings more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit and higher education leadership. Earlier in her career, she worked at Lifeworks in Westwood (formerly The Arc of South Norfolk), where she served as the founding director of the Family Autism Center and later managed the family support program, including respite services, intensive family support and advocacy initiatives.
For the past 15 years, she led Merrimack College’s master’s program in nonprofit management and community engagement, mentoring the next generation of nonprofit leaders while forging partnerships with schools and service organizations across Greater Boston.
“The Arc of Massachusetts enhances the lives of people with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities and strengthens families and communities through advocacy, education and resources,” Falk said. “I am eager to provide guidance and direction to elevate, deepen and sustain this transformative work.”
Falk holds a doctorate in education from Boston University, a master’s degree from Harvard University and dual bachelor’s degrees from Boston University. She also co-chairs the Parent and Community Education and Involvement Advisory Council for the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Founded more than 70 years ago, The Arc of Massachusetts has deep roots in Waltham, where its advocacy and outreach efforts connect families with local schools, health services, and disability support providers. More information is available at thearcofmass.org.
