National Honor Society students from Waltham High School being recognized by the School Committee for their work leading recent high school tours.

Dozens of Waltham High School students wearing their matching blue National Honor Society T-shirts filled the seats of last week’s School Committee meeting.

They were there to be recognized for their work leading city residents on tours of the brand new Waltham High School building.

“I am pleased to welcome members of our National Honor Society at Waltham High School who graciously donated their time on two different weekends, on a Saturday and a Sunday, and led an incredible number of tours for our community members of our new high school,” said Superintendent Marisa Mendonsa.

She continued: “I do have to say that one of the strongest pieces of feedback that we did receive from our community members was how amazing the students were. How patient and kind and thoughtful they were, and knowledgeable already of all of the different spaces in such a short amount of time. So, I want to really, on behalf of the school district and the School Committee, thank all of you for committing your time. It was invaluable for us as a greater city.”

School Committee members, including Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, who serves as committee chair, recognized each student by name and personally awarded each one a certificate in recognition of their service.
