A new mid-rise apartment building is scheduled to open next summer.
The six-story complex, located at 73 Pond St., next to the new Mass Central Rail Trail, already rises above surrounding structures and is visible from area streets.
The building is expected to have 210 units, with a mix of market-rate and affordable rentals.
The developer, Trammell Crow Residential, is an international real estate developer firm that has developed more than 285,000 residences around the United States. The firm also has buildings under construction in Chelmsford, Peabody and Worcester.
A 2024 press release from Trammell Crow said the Waltham building “will feature five stories of Class A residential apartments over one level of at-grade podium parking. Construction has commenced, and completion is anticipated for Summer 2025. Alexan Waltham will offer both market-rate and affordable units in studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom layouts ranging from 650 to 1,400 square feet.”
