City offices, library, schools closed in Waltham for Thanksgiving

City government offices, the Waltham Public Library and Waltham Public Schools will all be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Waltham Public Schools will also remain closed on Friday, Nov. 28, for the holiday break.​

Trash and recycling collection will not take place on Thanksgiving Day. Thursday and Friday pick-ups will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. City parking at pay stations will be free on Thursday.​

Residents are invited to attend Waltham’s annual Santa Parade and Holiday Lighting on the Common, scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.

Additional reminders for the week include the start of registration for the Recreation Department’s winter programs, opening Tuesday, Nov. 25, at noon.

This is also the final week of leaf vacuuming for households with regular Thursday trash and recycling collection; the Department of Public Works plans to revisit routes next week, weather permitting, and encourages residents to utilize bagged yard waste pick-up, which continues into December.
