Waltham High School (WHS) Principal Darrell Braggs announced that he will leave his position at the end of the current school year. He shared his decision in an email to WHS families on Thursday afternoon.

“Serving as Principal of WHS has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such talented students, staff and community members,” Braggs wrote.

He will continue in his role until the end of this school year and said he is “fully committed to continuing my work as principal over the next six months.”

Braggs was named interim principal in August 2022 to replace the previous principal, Brenda Peña. Peña announced her resignation mid-summer 2022, just weeks before the start of the school year and just weeks before she stepped down from the job. She had served as principal for about a year, having started the position on July 1, 2021.

Braggs did not share the reason for his departure in the announcement and did not respond to a request for comment from the Waltham Times.
