Christmas trees can be picked up curbside or dropped off at designated locations.

The city’s Public Works Department is reminding residents of their options for disposing of their Christmas trees and other holiday items.

The city will collect Christmas trees for the three weeks following Dec. 25. Residents can place their discarded trees curbside or drop them off at any of the city’s drop-off locations.

The drop-off locations are

Remember to remove all lights, ornaments, plastic bags and stands from discarded trees.

No wreaths that contain metal rims can be accepted.

You can call the Public Works Department at (781) 314-3855 to report a missed pickup.

As for other items, the city is offering the following guidelines:

For cardboard and boxes: All cardboard must be flattened and placed into recycling carts with the lid fully closed. Large quantities of cardboard can be brought to the residential dumpster at 165 Lexington St. Note: The dumpster is for Waltham resident use only.

For styrofoam and bubble wrap: All styrofoam and bubble wrap should be placed in the trash.

For electronics and appliances: No electronics of any kind should be put in the recycling cart. Residents who need to dispose of any appliances or electronics (specifically TV and computer monitors) must call EZ Disposal & Recycling at (781) 233-2211 to schedule a pickup. EZ Disposal will pick up your items by appointment only on your regularly scheduled trash and recycling pickup day. Pickups must be scheduled 24 hours ahead of your pickup day. You can leave a message if necessary. Please make note that the driver does not assist with transport of items to the curb. Items should be placed curbside by 7 a.m. More information on electronics recycling can be found here

For ribbons, bows and wrapping paper: Please throw any ribbons and bows into your trash barrels. Regular and glossy wrapping paper is recyclable, unless it has nonpaper additives such as metallic flakes, colored shapes, glitter and plastics. Foil, metallic and heavily laminated wrapping paper should be thrown into your trash barrels.

For string lights: Most hardware stores will accept faulty Christmas lights throughout the year and recycle them. Consult stores for specifics, including drop-off locations.
