Brandeis basketball player and Waltham native Lulu Ohm named to all-conference first team

Lulu Ohm has become a local legend of sorts, a fixture in the Waltham basketball community over the years.
“We call her the mayor of Waltham,” Brandeis women’s basketball coach Julie Prichett said. “She seems like she knows everyone around town and everyone on campus. She just has a really outgoing personality.”
A Waltham High School product, Ohm is set to graduate this spring after spending four seasons with the Judges. She will conclude her collegiate career with the perfect milestone to recognize her achievements after being named to the All-University Athletic Association first team.
“Lulu was our engine,” Prichett said. “She brought so much energy and positivity while coming through in the clutch in some key scoring moments. She is just a great leader, on-court facilitator, and scorer. She just brought so much to our team.”
Ohm led the entire conference with 18.2 points per game and an 85.4% free-throw conversation rate. The Film and Interactive Media major lit it up in games against Framingham State and MIT this season, netting 37 and 30 points in those tilts, respectively. She finishes her Brandeis tenure second all-time in program history with 456 points.
“She kept the team together and kept everyone positive,” Prichett said. “As a new coach coming in trying to establish a new culture, it was great to have her buy into everything. She rallied the troops and kept people moving in the same direction. She was a really good conduit from the coaching staff to the players as one of our captains. I was really grateful and thankful to have her as a senior leader. She made my job a lot easier.”
Ohm’s effect was not only felt by her teammates, but by those around the city. She served as the perfect bridge between the team and the surrounding neighborhoods. The Judges hosted a clinic for Waltham youth hoopers this year and Ohm was the star of the show.
“She really helped us connect with the local girls program,” Prichett said. “She was the star with all of the little kids. She is that kind of person. To have someone who is known in the city, to bring the city of Waltham to our games and connect us with the community was awesome. She is really good with kids and just being an outgoing personality to all people.”
