A Waltham man was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, after Boston police allegedly found hundreds of fraudulent checks in the man’s car during a traffic stop.

Officers arrested O’Keif Mark, 22, on Oct. 17.

According to a Boston Police Department statement, the officers stopped the car driven by Mark in Roxbury around 5:50 p.m. after receiving an alert that the vehicle was wanted for an incident in Brookline.

“Officers attempted to make contact with the operator of the vehicle who refused to roll down his window and locked all the doors. Officers requested multiple times for the operator to roll down his window which he finally complied,” according to the statement.

Police said that after multiple requests to get out of the vehicle, Mark complied but tried to walk away from the scene. Officers managed to stop the suspect after struggling to stop him, at which point they handcuffed Mark and conducted “a pat frisk of the vehicle.”

The Boston Police statement said officers seized approximately 236 fraudulent checks valued at $389,808. They also seized HEET water remover and three bottles of brake fluid, which can be used to wash ink off of checks. And they recovered a Glock-style BB gun.

Mark was charged with receiving stolen property over $1,200 and threats to commit a crime. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
