The city has announced its leaf vacuuming schedule for this fall.
The leaf vacuuming program now runs on a rotating schedule, with pickup happening in neighborhoods based on the day of the week they have trash pickup.
The 2024 schedule is as follows:
Trash Pickup Day/Leaf Vacuuming Week
Thursday pickup/Oct. 28 – Nov. 1
Friday pickup/Nov. 4 – Nov. 8
Monday pickup/Nov. 11 – Nov. 15
Tuesday pickup/Nov.18 – Nov. 22
Wednesday pickup/Nov. 25 – Nov. 29
According to the city’s website, residents should bring leaves to the curb before the Monday of their pickup week.
The city reminds residents not to cover storm drains and to keep sticks, brush, garden refuse or other waste out of the leaf piles to be vacuumed.
Residents should also note that leaves won’t necessarily be picked up on the usual trash and recycling day but instead will be picked up only once during the scheduled week, weather permitting. Crews will not make more rounds for leaf vacuuming for residents who miss their pickup week.
Residents also have the option to bag leaves for yard waste pickup. Use a paper leaf bag or a barrel (up to 50 pounds and marked “yard waste”) to dispose of leaves, grass and all other easily raked material, including small twigs and branches less than 2 inches in diameter and less than 3 feet long. Do not include stumps, logs, rocks or stones.
Yard waste pickup collection is ongoing through December and alternates according to a resident’s address. Residents can determine whether they are assigned to either the A-Week schedule or B-Week schedule by checking the city’s trash, recycling and yard waste schedule.
