Adapting classics for modern audiences is a popular (and sometimes even controversial) pastime. In her talk, Jennifer Rose will discuss how she and other writers have approached the task of adapting Austen’s work. She will also read from her manuscript, Her Persuasion, a contemporary version of Austen’s Persuasion, in which the long-estranged lovers are two women.

Jennifer Rose is the author of two books of poetry, as well as a writer of creative non-fiction. She serves on the JASNA Massachusetts steering committee.
