Created by critic-historian Jeremy Eichler as part of “Time’s Echo Live,” an acclaimed new series bridging the arts with the humanities, this program blends narrative and live performance to open up multiple new perspectives — on the legacy of Shostakovich, on the memory of the Second World War, and on the meaning of listening. Eichler’s presentation will be followed by a performance of Shostakovich’s “String Quartet no. 3” played by the Lydian String Quartet.
