DESCRIPTION:Gore Place will offer a special Halloween season screening of the PBS documentary “Murder at Harvard\,” about the 1849 trial of Harvard professor John White Webster\, who was accused of murdering Dr. George Parkman\, a member of one of Boston’s most prominent families. Webster’s trial drew thousands of spectators and filled newspaper columns. Join us for a spine-tingling evening of history and mystery as we revisit this fascinating and notorious case. \nEric Stange\, director\, co-producer\, and co-writer\, is a Boston-based documentary filmmaker specializing in cultural and social history. Melissa Banta\, co-producer and co-writer\, is an author and long-time curator at Harvard University and Mount Auburn Cemetery. \nCapacity is limited. Advance tickets strongly suggested.

You will learn about six generations of the Jones family living in this house for 200 years and the unique role that the tavern and Isaac Jones played during the Revolutionary War—including the visits from British spies\, Paul Revere’s men and a Weston Tea Party. Experience life as it was lived in the colonial era—our museum is filled with hundreds of artifacts that belonged to the Jones family. \nYou can also visit our 2026 exhibit “Lost Liberties – Broken Promises\,” a yearlong exhibit focusing on the enslaved\, indigenous\, displaced Loyalists\, and veterans of Weston who were on the wrong side of history. \nThis exhibit is sponsored by Mass Humanities and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. \nThursday Tours admissions.
