SUMMARY:Beep Baseball
DESCRIPTION:The Boston Renegades invite you to attend a remarkable sporting event taking place at Brandeis University’s Stein Diamond this weekend. \nSponsored by the Association of Blind Citizens\, the Boston Renegades play beep baseball\, an adaptive version of Americas pastime designed for blind and visually impaired athletes. The team will introduce the sport to\, and compete in a game against\, sighted individuals from First Parish in Waltham. \nFunded by the generous Jones Partnership Fund\, the clinic and exhibition are made possible through the tremendous support of Boston Renegades volunteer coach and Waltham resident Barry Stearns. Notably\, the event will help fund travel to a beep ball tournament in Norwood\, PA\, where the Boston Renegades and four other Northeast-based teams will vie for the annual Beast of the East crown. \nFounded in 2000 as the first competitive team sport in New England for blind adults\, the Boston Renegades have called Watertown’s Filippello Park their practice home for nearly 20 years. To mark its silver anniversary\, the team published a comprehensive timeline capturing its 25-year history and a Happy 25th Birthday to the Renegades post\, which features more historical context and fun facts.
