SUMMARY:Film screening: 'One Sings\, the Other Doesn't'
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of Agnès Varda’s beloved feminist classic “One Sings\, the Other Doesn’t” (1977)\, a joyful celebration of friendship\, love\, motherhood\, and the freedom to define one’s own life. The film has been a lasting source of inspiration for Jenna Gribbon\, who has said\, “Agnès Varda is probably my biggest influence outside of painting.” Like Varda\, Gribbon finds beauty in everyday relationships\, revealing the quiet intimacy\, tenderness\, and complexity of shared lives. \nPresented in conjunction with “Jenna Gribbon: Entwined\,” the screening will be introduced by Brandeis Professor Sophia Niehaus. Following the film\, Niehaus will be joined by “Entwined” co-curator Chad Sirois for a conversation exploring the rich connections between Varda’s groundbreaking cinema and Gribbon’s paintings\, inviting audiences to discover how two visionary artists reimagine family\, intimacy\, caregiving\, and the transformative power of love. \nPlease register to confirm a seat.

SUMMARY:'ReFrame' — Sculpture at the Old Schwamb Mill
DESCRIPTION:“ReFrame” brings together the work of Adria Arch\, Olivia Baldwin\, Tory Fair\, Anna Kristina Göransson\, and Kate Holcomb Hale\, five artists with deep ties to Arlington whose practices share a restless relationship with sculptural convention. Shown in the Mill’s historic upper rooms\, close to the spaces where frames were crafted by hand\, the work spills across walls and floors\, refusing the categories that would hold it still. \nEach artist will display large-scale pieces alongside smaller works for sale\, with proceeds supporting The Old Schwamb Mill.\nThe exhibition runs September 12 to November 14\, with an opening reception on Saturday\, September 26\, 2–3:30 p.m.\, a panel discussion on Saturday\, October 24\, 2–3 p.m.\, and a closing reception on Saturday\, November 14. \nThe Old Schwamb Mill is normally open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for guided tours of the Mill and art gallery viewing.

SUMMARY:Café Meet and Mingle: Bi+ community edition
DESCRIPTION:Hoping to connect with other bi+ people over coffee and conversation? Join Friends Beyond Boston–Waltham Social (20s–40s) for a relaxed and friendly coffee social in Waltham. Whether you’re looking to meet new people\, build meaningful friendships\, or simply spend some time with others who understand the bi+ experience\, this is a welcoming space to connect. \nThis edition of our popular series is for anyone who identifies under the bi+ umbrella\, including bisexual\, pansexual\, fluid\, queer-identified\, unlabeled\, questioning\, and anyone who experiences attraction to more than one gender (M-spec identities). Whether you’re out and proud\, quietly exploring\, or still figuring things out\, you’re welcome here. Show up as you are. This event is about warmth\, belonging\, and meeting others who truly understand the bi+ experience. \nPlease support the café by making a purchase\, as we are using their space. \nBecause bi-erasure and biphobia are common issues in broader queer spaces\, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for bi-erasing or biphobic comments\, to help keep this a safe and supportive environment for everyone. This is in line with our group’s general respect and inclusion guidelines. \nPlease note: This is an event for members of this community group who RSVP in advance. For safety and group flow\, walk-ins and guests not on the RSVP list cannot join. We love meeting new people\, just be sure to RSVP ahead of time so we know you’re coming.
