SUMMARY:Bug walk at Wellington Fields
DESCRIPTION:The WLT stewards\, along with the city of Waltham’s Ranger Adam\, are bringing this land back to life—to wildlife\, that is\, and first on the scene should be the insects who are necessary for supporting our life on earth! If you’re curious about insects and want to learn more\, please join us for this walk\, led by insect enthusiast and WLT and Save Waltham Wildlife member\, Linda Graetz. \nWear sunscreen\, long pants and closed-toed shoes. A looking sheet and field supplies will be available for use\, but please bring your own water\, tick/mosquito repellent\, and a hand lens if you have one. \nSpace in the program is limited—registration is required. \nChildren 8 and up\, accompanied by an adult\, are most welcome! \nRain date: Sunday\, September 7\, 1:00-2:30 p.m. \nThe walk will be at 775 Trapelo Road\, but park on neighborhood streets Sherwood Lane and Abbot Road\, and cross Trapelo to the site.

SUMMARY:Hardy Pond walk and new WLT land celebration
DESCRIPTION:It’s National Public Lands Day! We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a stroll along the Hardy Pondside Walkway\, followed by a party at our newly expanded Lakeview Preserve! \nTag along on this 1.5-mile leisurely walk to learn about ongoing stewardship efforts to protect Hardy Pond while enjoying sights of nature along the way. Wear comfortable walking shoes. \nWe’ll end at the Land Trust’s Lakeview Preserve to admire the new land WLT purchased in June\, adding to what was bought in 2023. We’ll hear remarks from Land Trust leaders and Senator Michael Barrett\, whose FY25 earmark helped pay for the parcel. \nHelp us celebrate protecting more open space! Snacks provided.\n1:30 – 3:00 p.m.: Walk\, leaving from Lazazzero Playground\, 7 Shore Road.\n3:00 – 3:30 p.m.: Party at 153 Lakeview Ave. Park at Lazazzero Playground\, on Princeton Ave\, or on Shore Road.
