Waltham is slated to get a $120,590 grant that the city will use to add more electric vehicle chargers to municipal lots. More specifically, the grant will pay for the installation of 11 new dual-port ChargePoint-brand chargers, creating 22 new charging spots.
The charging stations will charge customers for use, although the exact costs they’ll charge has not been set yet.
Councilor-at-Large Randall J. LeBlanc said the city needs to upgrade and expand its electric vehicle charging infrastructure to prepare for the state’s ban on the sale of non-electric vehicles. The ban goes into effect in 2035.
