There is no Juneteenth event this year. \nJoin us on the Waltham Common to celebrate Juneteenth with the Waltham Boys & Girls Club! \nFree fun booths\, vendors\, musical performances\, and children’s bounce house and activities! \nJuneteenth Waltham is sponsored in part by grants from Mass Cultural Council and the Jones Partnership Fund of First Parish Church in Waltham. \nJuneteenth commemorates the date June 19\, 1865\, two and a half years after the emancipation proclamation and two months after the end of the civil war\, when hundreds of thousands of enslaved men and women in Texas finally learned they had been freed. Juneteenth is an important milestone in American culture.
