Brandeis men’s basketball players Toby Harris and Elias Rodl named to all-tournament teams

When watching the Brandeis University men’s basketball team, the Judges, play this season, it did not take long to recognize the immense talent that a few standouts brought to the table.
Senior Toby Harris consistently lit it up with his quick release on the 3-point shot and supreme dunking ability. Meanwhile, junior Elias Rodl brought a measurable level of craftsmanship to the court, finding numerous ways to score on a game-by-game basis.
Both players were honored for their efforts as the 2024-25 season comes to a close. Harris earned a spot on the first-team All-University Athletic Association roster while Rodl was named a member of the second team.
“Those guys trusted the process,” Judges head coach Jean Bain said. “Both of them had very historic seasons offensively in terms of how they shot the ball. They were a big part of what we did offensively. Elias could have easily been first-team as well. I am just proud of those guys because I know how hard they work, how much they put into the game, and how much they enjoy playing with their teammates.”
This marks the second first-team all-UAA nod in Harris’ career. He led the Judges with 18.8 points per game and finished with a league-best 40.4% 3-point percentage. The Durham, N.C. native plans to become a graduate transfer after receiving his sociology degree this spring and has received plenty of interest from Division I colleges. The list includes reputable hoops programs such as the University of Vermont and Loyola University Chicago.
“This was always the plan for him to go try to play at a higher level,” Bain said. “With his size and shooting ability, he can play at that level. He is going to have to find the right fit. There are a lot of schools that have reached out to us about him, and wherever he goes, I know he is going to have success because of his ability to work, be in the gym, and put the time in. We are very happy for him and his family. He is going to be a special guy, wherever he goes.”
Rodl still has one more year left with Brandeis and the team will be reliant upon him to spearhead the offense in 2025-26. The Germany native and St. Anselm’s transfer notched an impressive 57% field goal percentage this year to lead the UAA.
“His father is a professional coach so he comes from a big-time basketball background,” Bain said. “We knew that he had all of the capabilities to be a very good player, but we didn’t expect this so soon. We expect him to continue to grow in his role and play a much bigger role next year on both ends of the floor. We are just super excited about him. Both guys are terrific young men and dedicated to what they do. I can’t say enough good things about them.”
