Public Safety Watch: Two Waltham men arrested after motor vehicle stop
A traffic stop by the Waltham Police Department led to the arrest of two Waltham men.
On April 17, an officer saw two individuals on a motorcycle with no registration sticker, and the passenger had no helmet.
When Police stopped the vehicle, the operator could not provide a driver’s license. The motorcycle also had no insurance attached to it. The passenger was discovered to have an herb grinder in his possession. Inside the grinder were two tied-off bags of white powder, believed to be cocaine.
At around 8 p.m., the operator and passenger were arrested.
The operator, Deibys Mendez-Borrayo, 25, of 8 Lawton Place, was arrested for having an uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and misuse of an RMV document.
The passenger, Mario Tubac-Garcia, was arrested for possession of a class B drug.

On April 11 at 10:59 a.m., police responded to a report of a past larceny at Star Market at 1070 Lexington St. Management stated that items were stolen from the store’s pharmacy area. The matter is under investigation.
At 5 p.m., police responded to a report of kids trespassing at the Fernald property at 200 Trapelo Road. The reporting party told police that the group had hopped the property’s fence. It was determined that the group left prior to police arrival.
On April 12 at 1:19 p.m., Paul Mantey, 61, homeless, of Waltham, was arrested for trespassing.
At 1:39 p.m., police responded to a report of a larceny at Costco Wholesale at 71 Second Ave. According to police, the reporting party’s wallet was stolen. The reporting party described the person suspected of taking the wallet. The matter is under investigation.
At 3:26 p.m., police responded to a reported disagreement between a pet owner and employees of the MSPCA-Angell West at 293 Second Ave. The incident was determined to be a civil matter.
On April 13 at 12:15 a.m., police responded to a residence at Trapelo Road to assist the Weston Police Department with locating a missing person. Weston Police said that the person may be visiting a friend at that location. The missing individual was determined not to be at that location.
At 7:09 a.m., police responded to a report of a motor vehicle break-in at the Waverley Oaks Athletic Club at 425 Waverley Oaks Road. It was reported that someone had entered the caller’s car and taken clothes while the caller was in the gym. The incident is under investigation.
At 11:25 a.m. police responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Moody Street. The caller stated that an unknown individual was in the apartment. The individual turned out to be a roommate’s parent, whom the caller didn’t know was going to stay at the apartment.
On April 14 at 3:59 p.m., police responded to a reported trespassing at the Fernald property at 200 Trapelo Road. Contractors working in the nearby playground area observed multiple juveniles inside the fenced area of the property. Upon arrival, the group had already left the area.
At 6:17 p.m., police responded to a report of a larceny at CVS at 12 Harvard St. The reporting party left a cell phone at the self checkout on April 13. Camera footage showed someone taking the cell phone from the kiosk. The matter is under investigation.
Kevin Reynolds, 31, of 55 Caughey St., Waltham, was arrested for violation of an abuse prevention order at 8:12 p.m.
On April 15 at 3:51 a.m., Charles Ogua, 35, of 118 Robbins St., Waltham, was arrested for possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card. This was reported in The Times’ latest court report, which can be found here.
At 9:27 a.m., police responded to a report of a utility hazard at the intersection of Carter and Moody streets. A caller reported that a panel was missing from a light pole and that wires were exposed. The Wires Department fixed the issue.
At 1:27 p.m., police responded to a report of an unwanted individual at the Hampton Inn and Suites at 135 Second Ave. Hotel staff stated that someone was refusing to leave the property after being asked to do so. Upon police arrival, the individual left without incident.
Samuel Alvarado-Cruz, 61, homeless, of Waltham, was arrested at 5:29 p.m. for drinking alcohol in public and disorderly conduct.
On April 16 at 12:24 a.m., Edwin Boteo-Boteo, 18, of 1094 Trapelo Road, was arrested for violating an abuse protection order.
At 2:16 a.m., police responded to a report of a burglary alarm going off at Floor & Decor at 80 Second Ave. Police assisted a manager with checking the property.
At 1:32 p.m., police responded to a report of a larceny at a residence on Newton Street. The reporting party fell victim to a scam on Facebook Marketplace that offered landscaping services. The reporting party lost $9000. The matter was assigned to a detective with the police department.
On April 17 at 8:15 a.m., police responded to a hit-and-run at Fastener & Metal Products Corporation at 30 Thayer Road. The reporting party stated that a vehicle had damaged the outside staircase of the property. A report was filed.
Nicholas Hyson, 33, of 16 Whites Ave., Watertown, was arrested at 11:33 a.m. on warrants for felony daytime breaking and entering, violation of an abuse prevention order and two counts of larceny over $1200. Hyson was arrested after failing to stop at a stop sign near the intersection of Ellison Park and Main Street and it was revealed he had multiple warrants.
At 7:57 p.m., police responded to an unarmed robbery at The Riverwalk at Charles River Greenway. The reporting party was walking along the Mary T. Early footbridge when a male individual grabbed the reporting party’s pizza. Police checked the area and locations nearby but could not locate the individual.
