Ernest A. LeBlanc, 1952–2025, a lifelong Waltham resident

Ernest A. LeBlanc of Waltham passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening, June 21, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital at the age of 73.

“Ernie”, the son of the late Emile J. LeBlanc and Irene D. (Gaudet) LeBlanc, was a lifelong resident of Waltham.

Ernie was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He made friends wherever he went, and he was a loyal, reliable, great friend in return. He appreciated his friends and would do anything for them.

Ernie loved to go to all sorts of athletic events, especially those of the children and grandchildren of his friends. He also loved to take his friends and their children to Red Sox Games. He had many friends at Fenway Park and Market Basket. He met people everywhere and often they became his friends. His friends were his family. He loved them and they loved Ernie.

Ernie was a social being and loved to talk to everyone. He was always trying to help his friends or brighten their day with a cup of coffee or a Danish.

Ernie made a lot of good friends over the years in Waltham, starting back in the day of the famous Sal’s Pizza on Main Street. At Health Point, he became friends with Greg Salvucci, Bob “Mobile” LeBlanc, Charlie Callahan and many others. Doug and Karen Shaw were very close friends with Ernie; they shared a lot of good times together. Ernie also had good friends such as Steve and Wendy Hilbrunner, Dave McGann, and Paul Douglas.

Paul and Ernie had regular Saturday morning coffee breaks on Calvary Street at Paul’s office. Ernie also cherished “porch time” at the Douglas house. Paul was Ernie’s Pit Crew tasked with keeping the famous Hot Dog Wagon in good working order. Ernie spent countless hours as an unofficial greeter at Market Basket where he would see many people such as John O’Toole on a regular basis. Ernie could often be found hanging out in one of the many area Dunkin’ Donuts shops within a 10-mile radius of Waltham. Needless to say, trips to Home Depot will never be the same and Ernie will be missed by many, many people.

Ernie was a kind, gentle soul. He loved being with people, getting up early to see his buddies at Dunkin Donuts. He knew everyone and always made it a point to say hello.

He was thoughtful and kind and will be missed by all.

He was predeceased by his parents Emile and Irene, his siblings Leonard LeBlanc and Nellie LeBlanc and his nephew Herman Rodrigues.
