Court Report: Waltham man arraigned for breaking and entering
A Waltham man awaits a pretrial hearing for misdemeanor breaking and entering, among other charges, following an arrest by Brandeis University police on July 7.
According to a police report, officers responded to a report of a trespassing incident around 6 p.m. at the Foster Mods, a residence hall at 296 South St.
The reporting party stated that a man unknown to her had entered her apartment without permission and left shortly after.
After speaking with the resident, officers located Zimu Zhang, 31, of 70 Hope Ave., standing outside of the apartment. According to the report, Zhang matched the description of the individual provided by the reporting party.
Zhang, who identified himself as a Bentley University student, said he had been looking for a friend at the residence hall. Upon further questioning by police, Zhang changed his story saying that he had entered the dormitory to use the bathroom.
Officers determined that Zhang was not a Bentley student and subsequently arrested him.
On July 8, Zhang pleaded not guilty to intimidating a police officer, attempting to commit a crime and three counts of misdemeanor breaking and entering.
The Waltham District Court released Zhang on the condition that he stay away from Brandeis University. His pretrial hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27.
