Utility pole damaged in crash on Second Avenue

A single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Second Avenue damaged a utility pole and brought down power lines, prompting road closures and delays during the evening commute.

Police said the crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. near 135 Second Ave. The impact left several wires sagging over the roadway, creating a hazardous situation that required a response from utility crews.

The roadway was closed to through traffic for several hours, and drivers were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes, according to a Waltham Police post.

The driver did not suffer serious injuries, police said.
