Court Report: Waltham man sentenced for 2020 stabbing

A Waltham man was sentenced in connection with a fatal stabbing that took place on Halloween night in 2020, according to a statement released by Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan.

Jonathan Galindo, 38, of 17 Prospect St., Waltham, was given a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 22 years for the second-degree murder of his 61-year-old roommate, Kevin Fitzgerald. Galindo was also given an 18-year sentence for armed robbery to be served alongside his murder sentence.

The sentencing comes after a Middlesex Superior Court jury on June 2 found Galindo guilty of these charges following a two-week trial.

Additional court actions

Ivan X. Marrero, 48, of 123 Beacon St., Clinton, was released from the Waltham District Court on July 21 on the condition that he stay away from the other party involved in the case. Marrero pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault and battery and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon following his arrest in connection to a July 19 incident at a Waltham residence. Marrero has a pretrial hearing scheduled for Aug. 19.

Watson Etienne, 50, homeless, of Waltham, was released from Waltham District Court on July 22 on the condition that he avoid contact with the person who filed charges against him and refrain from drinking alcohol. Etienne pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering into a Waltham residence, property vandalism and threatening to commit a crime. Etienne has a pretrial hearing scheduled for Aug. 19.

Joan Lee, 69, of 85 River St., Waltham, was released from Waltham District Court on July 23 on the condition that she avoid contact with the person who filed charges against her. Lee pleaded guilty to assault and battery at her arraignment that day. According to a police report, Lee, a manager at Waltham Dental Office at 85 River St., was accused by an employee of slapping her. Lee awaits a Sept. 25 pretrial hearing.
