Waltham district court.

Luis Barrera, 41, of 133 Center Road, Shirley, pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, malicious damage to a motor vehicle and larceny under $1200 at his arraignment on Aug. 18. Barrera was arrested for the alleged incident by the Waltham Police Department on Aug. 17. Barrera was released from Waltham District Court on the condition that he stay away from the location where the offenses allegedly occurred. He awaits an Oct. 6 Lavallee hearing. These hearings have been scheduled due to the statewide public defender strike. Under the Lavallee Protocol, the court must dismiss Barrera’s case if it cannot provide him with legal representation within 45 days.

William Turman, 43, homeless, of Roxbury, pleaded not guilty to assault and battery at his arraignment on Aug. 18. The related incident took place in Waltham on Aug 9. Turman was released from the court on the condition that he stay away from the person filing charges against him. He awaits an Oct. 6 Lavallee hearing.

James Hoover, 54, of 27 Lexington St., Waltham, pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a person 60 or older and possession of a class B drug at his arraignment on Aug. 19. He was arrested by Waltham Police for the alleged offenses on Aug. 18. Hoover was released from the court on the condition that he appear for his Oct. 10 Lavallee hearing.
