Babak Jafari, 39, of 90 Old Farm Road, Norwood, pleaded not guilty to negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle at his arraignment on Sept. 2. Babak was arrested for the alleged offenses on Aug. 31 by the Waltham Police Department. He was released on the condition that he appear for his Oct. 20 pretrial hearing.

Israel Oliveria-Lopes, 28, of 619 Union St., Rockland, pleaded not guilty to vandalizing property at his arraignment on Sept. 2. According to a police spokesperson, Oliveria-Lopes and Lucas Guimaraez were arrested on Sept. 1 for allegedly spray-painting a section of the abandoned Metropolitan State Hospital at 475 Trapelo Road. Oliveria-Lopes was released on the condition that he appear for his next court date on Oct. 20.

Lucas Guimaraez, 35, of 38 Clapp St., Malden, pleaded not guilty to vandalizing property and resisting arrest at his arraignment on Sept. 2. Guimaraez was also released on the condition that he appear for his next court date on Oct. 20.
