About 25 people joined a guided history walk along the Mass Central Rail Trail in Waltham on Oct. 5, hosted by the Waltham Land Trust and the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation. Participants enjoyed perfect weather as they explored the historic rail corridor.

Rick Kfoury, president of the Boston & Maine Railroad Historical Society, led the tour, sharing stories about the railway that once ran where the trail now lies. Members of the Waltham Historical Society also contributed insights about local landmarks.

Highlights included visits to two former station sites—Waltham North and Waltham Highlands, the latter of which still stands—as well as a stop at the mural on the side of 118 Bacon St., owned by Peter Ryan.

The first photo I have a memory of taking is one I took of my mother, father and younger sister. I believe my sister was wearing her baptismal dress. I would have been four years old. I no longer have the photo as I have given all the photos with my sister in them to my sister. I got the photography from my dad and nature from my mom. I am the family photo archivist. I’m also a chronicler. I chronical nature, family, events, sometimes meaningful sometimes random. It is a hobby that I enjoy. I have lived in Waltham for 29 years. I am a “city girl” I love living in a city. I love visiting the countryside but love living right in the city. I love having a choice where I can walk, bicycle or drive to the supermarket and other places if so desired.
