Skygazers across the northern United States enjoyed a spectacular display of the northern lights Tuesday night, thanks to powerful solar winds that sent electrically charged particles slamming into the earth’s atmosphere.

A high likelihood for more auroras is predicted for Wednesday night, according to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center.
