The resilient snowdrop

Even before the snows have melted away, these snow drops in my yard thrust blades of green through the thawing soil and set their delicate white bells nodding in the chilly breeze. The hardy plants hail from Europe and found hospitable habitats in North America, where we welcome the dainty blooms as one of the earliest signs of spring.
