Parks-Recreation Board reviews plans for 200 Trapelo Road, Fitch School site

The Parks-Recreation Board detailed plans for the city’s property at 200 Trapelo Road and the Fitch School.
The board at its Nov. 12 meeting announced the addition of new night vision security cameras at the park at 200 Trapelo Road.
Additionally, the board explained that the demolition of Farrell Hall at 200 Trapelo Road will make way for 200 new parking spots for parkgoers. Future additions to the complex will include pickleball courts, an open use gym, an indoor pool, an amphitheater and the first completely accessible disc golf course in the country.
The board also provided an update on the demolition of the Fitch School, saying the demolition will begin when the architectural elements slated for preservation are removed. The board also reported that it will ask Healthy Waltham to move out of the Fitch School gym space, where it is now located, at the end of November. There is no formal plan for the site after the building is demolished, but a community input meeting will be held in the future to hear residents’ ideas and concerns.
