Waltham held its annual Santa Parade and Holiday Lighting on Saturday, Nov. 29, bringing families out across the city to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Claus and kick off the season.

The parade traveled through several neighborhoods before arriving at Waltham Common, where a crowd had gathered for the celebration.

The Reagle Players dancers and singers, American Legion Band and Walthm High School Show Choir entertained the gathering with holiday tunes as they waited for Santa to arrive. The Waltham Salvation Army served hot cocoa.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus arrived at Waltham Common and greeted families at City Hall. Children could send letters to Santa using the special mailbox set up in front of City Hall.

As dusk fell, a young Walthamite assisted by Mayor Jeannette A. McCarthy lit the holiday lights, marking the start of the festive season in Waltham.
